5 Mistakes to avoid during a Job Interview

It’s not very uncommon to make mistakes during a job interview as the candidate is generally nervous and under pressure. However, sometimes the candidates don’t even know about the mistake they are making.  If one has not appeared much for Interviews then the chances of making a mistakes increases, so these tips will be even more useful for freshers.

 1. Showing Up Late

After reading this one might feel that of course, I am not a child, but you should understand that there are other factors like Traffic Jams and  Public Transport delays. So, keep a margin for all such factors and reach at least half an hour before the schedule. It is important to reach early because if you reach almost on time or few minutes late then you will surely be in a panic and if your turn for the interview is immediately after reaching then you will be making silly mistakes. Another thing is that if there is an option to choose your turn for the interview then you must choose an early slot because if you choose a slot after the interviewer has interviewed many candidates then chances are that interviewer is already got bored or he already found any suitable candidate then you will be compared with him.

Chances are that the interviewer might not show up at the scheduled time but the candidate is expected to be on time. Friends, you need the job so you need to accept that.

2. Keeping Your mobile ON

Most of the candidates are intelligent enough of not making this mistake but still under pressure mistakes do happen. So keep a check on it. Another thing is that your phone is silent but there are a number of messaging application that notifies on reception of a message. So, rather than making a sorry face it is adviced that you must turn off your mobile phone if it’s not absolutely important to keep it on. 

The thing is if you take a call during your interview then it displays that you are not serious about the interview.

3. Limp Hand Shake

Hand Shake is an important tool for the interviewer to judge your nervousness. Don’t show your nervousness even if you are nervous. If the interviewer offers a handshake then do a firm handshake, please note that you are not expected a bone-crushing handshake, just a firm handshake will do it.

4. Too much casual

The interview is not your friend, you must maintain a professional distance with the interviewer. You can’t ask personals questions from the Interviewer like are you married or what are you going to do tonight?. By getting too casual you might reveal something that might hamper your chances of selection. There are few cool dudes who respond like I was at a party last night and I came in the interview straight from the party. Maybe the party is really important for you but for other person its just a party and if you are not avoiding the party for the interview shows that you are not serious about the job. So don’t get too much casual.

5. Ignoring Body Language

Body language is one of the important things that is judged during an interview and if you are not giving it a damn then you are missing a lot. Keep a Smile on your face even if you don’t feel like smiling. Proper eye contact, hand and leg movement is also important things to keep in mind.
