How to solve cubes questions in SSB Interview

On the day 1 of the SSB Interview, you will be facing OIR test i.e. Officer Intelligence Rating Test in which two sets of booklets will be given to you and these booklets contain question-related to verbal and non-verbal intelligence. One such type of questions is of those in which a candidate has to find which cube out of the three options given possibly belongs to group A. Many candidates find it difficult to answer so today we are discussing such questions so that you will get a better idea of the same. In these questions there will be unique patterns in both the groups, which may be all the faces in Group have odd numbers, all the faces are solid, all the faces of a group have vowels of English alphabets and so on.

It is important to note that before the actual test starts you may or may not be given a practice test. If you are given a practice test then do it carefully and if you have any doubt then you can clarify at this stage.

The Questions

Question. Which one of the following cubes can possibly belong to Group A?.

Solution.

If you have read the question properly then you must remember a word “possibly”. This word is very important in solving these questions; here you just have to find the possibility of belonging to a particular group which means you don’t need to be absolutely sure.

As in the example given above if you look at Group A then all the geometrical designs on the faces are not shaded while in the Group B all the designs are shaded (filled with solid black colour) and if you see the options then you will find that only in the second figure can see one geometrical figure is not shaded. So we can say that “2” possibly belongs to Group A, we can’t be sure but only thing here is a possibility we don’t know what all designs will be on the back of all the dice.

Question. Which one of the following cubes can possibly belong to Group A?.

Solution.

When you look at the figures in Group A, all the figures are bisected in two unequal half while in Group B all the figures are bisected in two equal halves. When you look at the options then you will find only the circle in the first figure is not equally divided so we can say the cube “1” possibly belongs to Group A.

Question. Which one of the following cubes can possibly belong to Group B?.

Solution.

This is a quite simple question, first, try to find the answer yourself. If you got the patterns that Group A has all odd numbers while Group B has all even numbers, then read the question again, in this question it is asked which cube can possibly belong to Group B. As in the “2” cube there is a even number i.e. 4 hence we can say cube 2 can possibly belong to Group B. In SSB Interview you will be given question in which you will be asked which cube possibly belong to Group A, here we intentionally made it Group B to make you realize that it is always important to read and listen to the question carefully.

Question. Which one of the following cubes can possibly belong to Group A?.

Solution.

If you closely look at both the Groups then you will find in Group A if two figures are same then they are not filled with black color. In Group B have two figures same on a face when they are solid filled. On looking at the options only in option three two figures circle are given and both are not filled with black color. Hence we can say “3” belongs to Group A.
