Written Exams for commission in Indian Defence forces are conducted to shortlist the candidates for SSB Interview, as there are huge number of applicants for various exams and if all of them are called for SSB then many potential candidates might get Screened Out, so there will be an initial written exam for shortlisting the candidates and then they are called for SSB Testing at various Boards.
All major written exams are conducted twice in a year like NDA and NA exam, CDSE and AFCAT. Questions in these exams are simple in nature and are based on elementary concepts. So, clearing any of these exams will not be a tough ask for you.
