Never Give Up – Kushan Dixit Recommended from 18SSB for IMA 137

I had dreamed of joining the armed forces since my childhood, as my uncle, cousins are already the flag bearers from our family, my father is in police, so from my tender age I was in the mix of things. Seeing the men in uniform gave me an altogether different thrill as serving the motherland always gave me a vicarious experience of serving the nation. But as the old cliché goes “nothing comes easy”, I had to toil hard to achieve my dream.

I got my first setback when I found that I am overage for NDA, I was heartbroken as my dreams got a setback, but encouragement from my father helped me to come of that phase and he told me to get through CDS. I then did B.A. ENG (HON) after that I fully concentrated on my CDS Exam. I was prepared to put in the hard yards, but somehow didn’t manage to clear it in the first go, I again brushed the disappointment aside and started studying for the next attempt, but again I found myself on a shaky territory as I did not manage to clear it, my mother had almost lost hopes of my clearing it and my father was utterly dejected.

Hard work will win when wishes won’t.

I did introspection and found that the way I was studying was not enough to crack the exam; I set my goal for the exam in September 2013 and chalked out my schedule. I found out my weak links and started working on them. I first tried to improve my calculating skills in Maths which was a shortcoming in the previous attempts, after completing the course I also practiced several mock papers and slowly improved my marks in due course of time, in English I read newspapers and books on a daily basis so as to grasp the subject in a better way. In general sciences, I used to note down the important happenings on a day to day basis and I also practiced many previous years questions to gain confidence.

Finally, my hard work paid the dividend as I sailed through the written exam smoothly and with surety and without any doubts I set my eyes on the SSB Interview.

For the SSB I first went through different sites just to get sussed with the syllabus after knowing it I came across ssbguru.com. This site helped me immensely as it guided me in the proper direction and helped in knowing the intricacies of each and everything jotted down on the site. For screening, I prepared at least two stories for the same picture and worked on my narration time and again, in psychology I again attempted TAT, WAT, SRT, SD’s numerous times.

For the interview, I prepared my answers according to the questions given on the site, for the GTO I read all the rules thoroughly, after getting the much-needed blueprint from the site I also attended two-week coaching just to get the experience in real time. When my SSB days were around the corner I used to visit the site daily to hone my skills and become perfect in it and the site acted like a best friend around. When I finally went for my SSB to Allahabad right from the word go I felt positive, confident and self-reliant and had made up my mind that I will only go out of this place after getting selected, throughout the tests I felt very comfortable as through SSB Guru I practiced how to go about every test and on 26th March I got recommended from 18ssb for IMA 137 course.

So, folks, hard work will win when wishes won’t, learn to have belief in yourself and faith in God.

SSBGuru.com wishes Kushan Dixit all the best for his future.
